A true soul superstar is hitting Leeds this summer. Award winning U.S. vocalist and daughter of soul legend Donny Hathaway, singer Lalah Hathaway is live at The Wardrobe for Futuresounds. As a recipient of 5 Grammy awards since 2014 alone, including a win as Artist & Producer for 2017’s Best R&B Album “Lalah Hathaway Live”, Lalah’s track record speaks for itself. Her career spans almost 30 years, from her self-titled debut album “Lalah Hathaway” to last year’s “Honestly”. She’s collaborated with legendary U.S. soul artists such as Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire and Mary J Blige and in the second decade of the new millennium, she found a whole new younger audience with her recordings with jazz/hip-hop/neo-soul fusion artists Robert Glasper (“Cherish The Day”) and Snarky Puppy (“Something”). This gig is a must for all lovers of contemporary and classic deep soul music and will sell out so don’t sleep on buying tickets upfront. Tickets on-sale Friday 4th May.
Support comes from young Leeds soul singer Akin, an alumni of Leeds College Of Music and vocalist with the highly rated hip-hop big band The Abstract Orchestra.
Before, between and after live sets, Leeds music legend DJ Lubi (DIG! Family, Soul Rebels, RE:SOUL), is on the decks playing great soul music past, present and future.
