And past generations were just as drawn to their evocative presence -leaving us stories as they tried to explain these sites. While most know about the iconic neolithic Stonehenge, the UK is home to hundreds of other ancient stone circles built thousands of years ago for mysterious ceremonial and astronomical purposes.
Join folklorist, historian and storyteller Jon Norman Mason to explore the tales, dreams, wild guesses and old beliefs that have gathered around the stones over the centuries – from lost kings to petrified sinners, mischievous fairies to ancient giants.
